Month Twenty-Two

Liam,

Today you turned twenty-two months old! Only two more months and you're going to be 2!! Wow, where has the time gone! No, I really mean it...where has the time gone. It feels like it was just yesterday you were a baby but now you're turning into quite the little boy. I really get reminded of this each time I take you in for a haircut!

Lately we've been on the go and when we're on the go you go wherever we go. You've always done great in public places whether it be just going shopping or going out to dinner or lunch. You do the normal kids things like wanting to run around a little bit (which can be frustrating when I'm trying to shop especially when you hide behind clothes racks) and getting bored after sitting at the table too long. But we've never had to leave somewhere because you were throwing a fit or rush through dinner because you couldn't handle it anymore. When we go out with our friends the first thing they say is that they can't believe how well behaved you are! It makes us feel good that people notice and compliment you on it. You are such a special little boy!

You're really talking now and boy is it nice. We can ask you something and you respond with what you want. You have nicknames for things you want like when you want to watch "Despicable Me" (your favorite movie right now), you just say "Me". Or if you want to watch your favorite show "Mickey Mouse Club" you say "Mouse". You have also started telling us when you're poopy by saying "poop". Most of the time you've already pooped but we still show you the potty hoping you'll put two and two together. But in the next couple weeks we're going to really focus on it and start potty training you. So more to come on that later! You also like to repeat things so we have to be really careful what we say and what the TV says. If you see someone sleeping you'll say "their going night-night" and if they leave you'll say "they went bye-bye". Just recently we got you to start saying your name and you can say it really good too. At daycare today, a little boy came up to us as we were leaving and said "bye Liam" and you looked at him and said "bye Liam" right back. We'll work on saying other kid's names later. One step at a time right!

You love the water! Even when you were a baby you loved to splash and play around in the water in the bathtub...you still do! But with it being summer we've been going to the lake quite a bit and to the water park. You are all about the water and always want to go right in. You've even gone on a boat and had a great time doing that to. But jumping into the water from the boat is a whole different story, we had to do a little coaxing to get you to jump in. Slides in the water are even better and you couldn't get enough of the slide at Splash Montana. At home you like to run through the sprinklers or help me water the flowers which normally turns into a water fight. It's great you like to be outside like us so we can take you to the lake or go camping or go for a hike. You're pretty much game as long as you're outside. We leave for Yellowstone Park this week so we're excited to see how you do there!

Happy twenty-two month birthday sweet little boy! We love you very much! You are so special and bring so much joy to our lives!!

Love,
Momma

Lake Mary Ronan

Last weekend we met Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Brooke, and cousins Bohdan & Meridian at Lake Mary Ronan. The plan was actually to camp at Flathead Lake but we had no luck finding a camping spot anywhere on the lake. We even went up Friday night hoping some spots would still be open. But after driving around for a while we decided to head over to Lake Mary Ronan as it wasn't too far and we'd never been there before either. The state campground was already full but not the lodge just down the road. They had plenty of spots to pick from and even better a restaurant/bar, bathrooms with showers, and a little playground with swings and a slide. We found a campsite right next to the slide so you were all about that slide. It took you a few tries to get used to it as it didn't really have a great spot to sit at the top. But with a little help from us, you got the hang of it and were going up and down all by yourself.

It was a hot weekend, in the high 90s for the most part, so when Jeremy and Brooke arrived with their boat, we couldn't wait to get it in the water and head out on the lake. Just being on the boat cruising around was so much cooler. Of course we'd stop whenever we got really hot and jump in for a swim. We even got you to jump in a couple times with daddy. You loved the tube and loved just floating around on it with your cousins. We also went to the rope swing and the boys tried out their skills on that. You and Boh loved watching daddy and Uncle Jeremy swing into the water, smiling each time they did it! It was a beautiful weekend and exactly what we needed....lots of relaxation and a whole lot of time in the water!!

Swim Break!
Look at that boat hair - ha!
Ready to go tubing!
Tired boy - you slept all the way home!

Favorite Things

You have a few favorite things that you ask for on a daily basis and even won't leave home without it.

1.) Your puppy pillow and blankey! Every night you snuggle into your puppy pillow and if we don't have it in your crib you ask for your "puppy" and keep asking for it until you have it. When you wake up in the morning and are lifted out of your crib, you always reach back and say "puppy". The puppy normally comes with us in the car too but daddy's been trying to break that by saying the puppy will stay home with him. It's worked a couple times so far! You love your blue and white blankey. I have to be careful you don't see me throwing it in the wash or you freak out and want it back. It goes to daycare with you too so you can have it for nap time and then we bring it home on the weekends. When we travel, these are two things we never forget!!

2.) You love the TV program - Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Every morning as soon as you wake up, you say "mouse...mouse". So we have a new routine in the mornings where I get up and shower, and then I get you up and dressed, get you some milk, and put you on the couch to watch your favorite show. But this doesn't just benefit you. I normally need to finish getting ready so it's great you'll sit and watch your show until its time to go instead of bugging me. This also give you time to wake up if you're a little cranky!

3.) Your favorite movie right now is Despicable Me. We've probably watched it off and on every night for the past couple weeks now. It's funny because as soon as we get home for the day, you run over to the entertainment center and pull open the drawer with your movies in it. You always go through the movies saying "that one", then pick another one saying "no that one", and so on. But after going through this, it's always Despicable Me. We've even put in another movie you picked out and we'll have to stop it because you want Despicable Me. You don't know this yet but the second Despicable Me just came out in the theaters and we're taking you to it later this week. It will be your first movie in a theater!

4th of July Weekend

For the 4th, we went to Seeley Lake and stayed at our friends cabin for the weekend. It was a perfect weekend with great weather so we all got A LOT of beach time in with plenty of swimming, lounging, and just relaxing in general. This is exactly what we needed too because we've been on the go lately and it was nice to have a long relaxing weekend! Plus our friends have three young girls (Kyler, Logan, and Drew) so you had playmates all weekend long!!

Learning how to play games on the Nabi tablet with Kyler

The first day we were there we went to the day beach not to far from the cabin. We got there early enough to find a spot on the beach which was really nice for you and girls because you could go in the water as you pleased and all of the adults could lay out on the beach and relax. You are definitely a water baby and wanted to be in the water the whole time. I could barely pull you out long enough to eat some lunch. After the beach, we went back to the cabin to have dinner and light off a few fireworks. Later that night, we all got bundled up and went out on the lake in the boat to watch the fireworks show. You stayed awake through the majority of it but fell asleep just as it was ending. You even stayed asleep on the boat ride back to the cabin which shocked me since we were bouncing all over the place from the waves. It wasn't hard to put you to bed that night as it had been a very long day!

Beach Time!

Just hanging out...

Loving the water!

Getting ready to watch the Seeley lake Fireworks Show

Still awake and loving the fireworks

The next day, we decided to stay at the cabin and hang out on the dock. That way we could lay you down for a nap if we needed to. Even though you couldn't access the water as easy as the beach, you had a lot of fun on the dock. Robb brought out the water toys and you thought their blow-up bumper boat was the coolest toy ever. We put you in it with Kyler first and when your turn was done, you didn't want to get out. You threw a BIG fit when we took you out and we had to get your attention on something else. But we knew you were getting tired so we decided this was a perfect time for a nap. Putting you down for a nap was little tough though because your play pen was in the living room and any time someone would walk by you'd pop up and say "hi". You didn't cry or throw a fit, you just sat in there until someone walked by and then it was "hi...hi". Eventually you fell asleep and once you were out, YOU WERE OUT! You slept through the night the first couple nights we were there but on the last night I don't know what happened but you woke up a few times crying and rolling around. We eventually brought you into bed with us because we didn't want you to wake everyone else up. So we were glad we were going home the next day because I think you'd had enough of your play pen and wanted your own bed back.

Cruising in the bumper boat with Kyler

Had to do it by yourself too!

Thanks Libby and Robb for a wonderful weekend and allowing us to stay at your cabin for the weekend! We had a blast and really enjoyed hanging out with everyone!!

Splash Montana

Last Thursday I took the day off so I could take you to Splash Montana with Jenn. We lucked out with the weather and had a perfect, hot, day! When we first got there, you were a little timid and didn't want to get in the pool. I think it had something to do with all the people there as it was a little overwhelming. But I was able to coax you into the pool and as soon as Jenn and I started splashing around showing you how fun it was you relaxed and started to swim around. We got you a new life jacket too which made it a lot easier for you to swim around. You had a blast swimming in the water, then standing up and jumping back into the water on your belly. You discovered the little bear slide and I took you down the first time but after that you did it by yourself. Though a couple times I had to climb up the slide and grab your arm to help you go down. You got the hang of it and by the third or fourth time you were zipping down the slide. You even watched another kid go down on his stomach instead of his butt and thought you'd do the same. We couldn't believe how fast you picked that up! We also took you on the lazy river which you didn't care for. I think it was to restricted for you. All you said was "slide...slide...slide" as you pointed at the big slide in the middle of the river. Sorry buddy, you're a little to small to go this year but we'll definitely take you next year! We had a fun day and daddy was sad he missed it. But I'm sure we'll be going to Splash a lot this summer!
